Autopsy doesn’t reveal cause of student’s death

Police in Lawrence still don’t know what caused a 37-year-old Haskell Indian Nations University student to die unexpectedly this past weekend.

Preliminary autopsy results on DeAnn Ridesatthedoor were inconclusive, according to Lawrence Police Sgt. Mike Pattrick.

Police now are awaiting the results of toxicology tests to determine the cause of death. Pattrick said that could take several weeks due to a backlog at the Kansas Bureau of Investigation laboratory.

Ridesatthedoor, a Haskell junior, was found dead Sunday morning in a house in the 1600 block of West 21st Street. Police said the preliminary autopsy results showed no indication of foul play.

Robbery victim arrested after police find drugs

A Kansas University student went from home-invasion victim to drug suspect in a matter of moments early Tuesday.

The 24-year-old man called police shortly after midnight reporting that two men, one armed with a handgun, had just kicked open the door to his apartment in the 1900 block of Stewart Avenue, said Sgt. Mike Pattrick, a Lawrence Police Department spokesman. When officers responded, they found what they suspected was crack cocaine and marijuana in plain view inside the apartment, Pattrick said.

They arrested the man on suspicion of drug possession with intent to sell, and he was later booked into the Douglas County Jail. He posted bond a few hours later, according to jail records, and as of Tuesday afternoon had not been formally charged.
