Portela Rolls Seven: Chloe Portela of the Lawrence Aquahawks won seven gold medals at the Garvin Invitational in Topeka. Teammates Molly Albrecht and Zach Andregg earned five and four golds respectively.

Double winners were Cameron Case, Heather Clark, Erin Eifler, Mallory Neet, Nathaniel Rommel, Ben Sloan and Katie Sloan.

The Aquahawks’ Hannah Buchner, Kansas Fiori-Brown, Phoebe Grabill, Faith Kempf, Tony Libeer, Emma Reaney, Alyssa Rudman and Stacey Rudman captured one event apiece.

Big Bocquin Week: George Bocquin used a three-iron to ace the par-three, 153-yard No. 8 hole last week at Alvamar Country Club.

Dennis Bocquin was the witness. Also last week, Bocquin shot a 73 and won last week’s Golden Oldies Tournament at Eagle Bend. Age-group winners were Jim Hill, Art Frye and Bill Sherman.

  • Turkey Trot Winner: Paul Heitzman of Eudora won the ages 70-74 division of the Turkey Trot 5K Saturday in Tulsa, Okla. Heitzman was timed in 21:18.

  • City Deadline: Registration deadline for city adult winter basketball and volleyball leagues is 5 p.m. Wednesday. Teams can register online at www.lprd.org. League play will begin Jan. 18. For information, call 832-7920.

  • Baseball Lessons: Kansas University’s baseball staff will conduct semi-private lessons on Sunday evenings through the end of March at Anschutz Pavilion. For information, call Reggie Christiansen at 864-7135.
