KU’s Chesang finishes 48th

Kansas University’s Benson Chesang ran a personal-best time in the 10K and finished 48th out of 254 runners Monday in the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Chesang, who was clocked in 30:22.7, was the second freshman runner to cross the finish line.

“I am happy with how I did today,” said Chesang, a native of Kenya. “I’m looking forward to getting back here in the future. It was a great experience for me.”

Kansas coach Stanley Redwine said Chesang ran “an awesome race and we’re really proud of him.”
