University Bridge Club announces winners of its Nov. 15 game. Al and Carol Smith and Ralph and Jean Dunn were hosts.

Blue winners were Al Smith, first; Kit Carson, second; George Bocquin, third; Alice Akin, fourth; and Tom Waller, fifth.

Pink winners were Wanda Kring, first; Bette Lukens, second; Iva Koleber, third; Freddie Nelson, fourth; and Mona Langlois, fifth.

  • The Betty Washington Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution met Nov. 15 at the home of Ralph and Dorothy Reed.

After a short business meeting and refreshments, Ralph Reed discussed his collection of art works.

The next meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 20 at the home of Polly Reed, regent. The club will have its Christmas celebration.

  • The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club met Monday. The stratified game attracted 10 tables and used a Mitchell movement. Virginia Seaver directed the play.

Playing North-South, Klee Zaricky and Chris Lane took first place in A and B. Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough finished second in A. Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd were third in A and second in B. Terry Tolar and Harry Shaffer placed fourth in A. Marty Hartman and Pat Burgstahler were third in B and first in C.

Competing East-West, James Zhang and Russell LaForce swept first place in A, B and C. Paul Heitzman and Virginia Seaver finished second in A. John Hickey and Patt Radford were third in A. Don Daugherty and Harry Talley tied for fourth and fifth in A, and second and third in B and C with Phyllis Brownlee and Virginia Eddy.

  • The Lawrence 299ers’ Duplicate Bridge Club met Nov. 12. Five tables competed in a stratified game that used a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Playing North-South, Artie Shaw and Harriet Olson finished first in A and B. Chuck Hedges and Don Brennaman were second in A. Dorothy Arth and Frances Vogel placed third in A.

Competing East-West, Al Ballard and Emily Foster claimed first place in A, B and C. Julie Ward and Ann Thompson finished second in A, B and C.

  • The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met Nov. 14. Nine tables competed in a stratified game that used a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Playing North-South, Lois Clark and Harry Shaffer finished first in A. Betty Collier and Patt Radford were second. Sally Taylor and Klee Zaricky were third in A and second in B. Shirlie Vaughn and Suzanne Wassmer took fourth in A and third in B. Don Brennaman and Cathy Blumenfeld were first in C.

Sitting East-West, Donna Munson and Pat Lombardi claimed first place in A and B. Dave Piro and Paul Heitzman placed second in A. Virginia Seaver and Chuck Hedges took third in A. Mona Bell and Carol Ball were second in B and first in C.
