Gwendolyn Ruth Schroll

? A celebration of life for Gwendolyn Ruth Schroll, 60, Topeka, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.

Ms. Schroll died of liver cancer Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at her home.

She was born Oct. 29, 1943, in Lawrence, the daughter of Joseph E. and Ruth (Fisher) Davis. She grew up in Lawrence and graduated from Emporia State Teachers College with a degree in vocational home economics in 1965.

Ms. Schroll taught home economics at Clyde Rural High School for a year. She began working for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas in 1968. She worked in several positions until she retired in February 2003 as director of marketing administration. She was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority. She became a member of National Association of Insurance Women in 1986. She was also elected director of the Kansas Council of the association in 1996 and served as public relations chair and membership chair for the Kansas chapter and assistant to the regional vice president in 1997. She was involved with the Topeka Cat Assn., Master Gardener Club and Topeka Railroad Days committees.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Schroll, Topeka, and Mary Schroll, Fort Worth, Texas; her mother, Lawrence; a brother, Joseph E. Davis Jr., Topeka; and a sister, Joyce Virtue, Scammon.

The family suggests memorials to Topeka Cat Assn. or Heart of America Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home, 1321 S.W. 10th Ave., Topeka 66604-1205.
