West Palm Beach, Fla. ? Former baseball standout Danny Tartabull has been evicted from two Florida homes and sued for more than $300,000 in back rent and penalties, The Palm Beach Post reported.

Tartabull, who a decade ago signed a $25.5 million, five-year contract, was evicted from the homes in southern Palm Beach County in just over a year, the newspaper reported in Saturday editions.

Boca Raton homeowner Thomas Nader filed a suit in April contending Tartabull owed $28,170 in rent and late charges since signing a lease in September.

Highland Beach resident and businessman Fernando Amandi, who said he rented a waterfront home to the ex-ballplayer a year earlier, calls himself Tartabull’s “other victim.”

Tartabull rented Amandi’s home in September 2001 with a two-year lease for $16,000 a month, and paid two months’ rent, the newspaper said.

After Amandi evicted Tartabull in May 2002, a court ordered the former baseball player to pay $320,000 in late fees and charges, the newspaper said.

Tartabull could not be reached for comment.

Tartabull, son of former major leaguer Jose Tartabull, came up with Seattle and was 24 when he hit 34 homers for Kansas City in 1987, his first season with the Royals. He hit his 100th career homer two years later and ended his 14-year career with 262 homers, also playing for the New York Yankees, Oakland and the Chicago White Sox.

He signed his $25.5 million contract with the Yankees before the 1992 season.
