Phillip Rodriquez and Keri Davenport, Lawrence, announce the birth of a daughter, Brooklyn Juanita, born May 13, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She has a sister, Grayson, 3. Grandparents are Teri and David Davenport, Lawrence; Dean and Jenny Hepner, Baldwin, and Joe Rodriquez, Lawrence.

Brandi and Darrin Wegner, Lawrence, announce the birth of a daughter, Peyton Jean, born May 19, 2003, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Grandparents are Tom and Jeannie Jones, Coffeyville, and Lee and Marlene Wegner, Parsons. Great-grandparents are Leonard and Dottie Combs, Waverly, and Bobby and Colene Jones, Coffeyville.

Jessica Camin Redding received a bachelor of arts degree with honors in art May 19 from Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa. She received the Henry York Steiner Memorial Prize for creative art and the Selden Whitcomb Prize in poetry. She is the daughter of Larry and Nomi Redding, Lawrence.

Molly Hoss, Lawrence High School, and Sarah Allen, Free State High School, were this year’s recipients of the Lawrence Pilot Club’s $750 scholarships.

Dylan McClain, a 2003 graduate of Lawrence High School, has signed a national letter of intent to be a member of the cross country and track teams at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. In addition to the athletic scholarship, Dylan has received two academic scholarships to Drake University.

Dhwani Shah, daughter of Kiran and Naina Shah, Lawrence, recently received three awards at the annual Academic Honors Convocation at Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh, N.C., where she is a 10th-grader. She received the Outstanding Student of the Year Award in honors algebra III/trigonometry. She also won first place in a creative writing contest. She received the 2003 Randolph-Macon College Book Award.

At the invitation of Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, Andrew Monshizadeh was selected to attend the 20th Annual Governor’s Scholars Award Program on May 4 in Topeka.

The recognition ceremony honors the top academic 1 percent of Kansas high school seniors. Monshizadeh also graduated as one of eight valedictorians from Lawrence High School and had received a Kansas Alumni Honor award earlier in the year. He will attend Kansas University this fall and has received a Summerfield scholarship.

The Fleming-Bailey-Rice 49th annual reunion will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Gaines Walnut Grove, 933 E. 350 Road. Attendees are asked to bring a basket dinner, table service and lawn chairs. For more information, call 331-9598.

Megan Hannon, Basehor, graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree from Creighton University, Omaha, Neb. Commencement ceremonies were May 17. She is the daughter of Michael Hannon.
