Richard F. Postma

Services for Richard F. Postma, 85, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Washington Creek Church of the Brethren in rural Douglas County. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Grove.

Mr. Postma died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Baldwin Care Center.

He was born July 1, 1917, in Willow Springs, the son of William H. and Mary L. (Flory) Postma.

Mr. Postma was a grain and dairy farmer partnered with his father and brother, Laurie, in Douglas County. He was a former member of Lawrence Farmers Co-op and a member of Washington Creek Church of the Brethren, where he had been a Sunday school teacher and deacon.

He married Velma Vance Turner on Oct. 12, 1986, in Douglas County. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Waneta Turner, Lawrence.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the church or Heart of America Hospice, sent in care of the mortuary.
