Hawks whip Lawrence

? Touched for six first-half goals, Lawrence High allowed just two after halftime in an 8-0 soccer loss Tuesday to Olathe East.

“We came up with a new strategy at halftime, and it worked really well,” LHS coach Keith Nelson said. “We played a phenomenal second half. The girls have a lot more confidence after that half than they did before.”

Nelson cited the play of defenders Monica Ruiz and Dyana Lawrence and goalkeeper Shannon Fisher.

The Lions (2-11-1) will play host to Free State Thursday. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Youth Sports Inc. fields.
