Trent Brown of Arkansas City will defend his championship in the KGA Mid-Amateur golf tournament today and Tuesday at Alvamar.

A field of more than 150 golfers, including 14 from Lawrence, will play two 18-hole rounds to determine the champion of the event open to golfers ages 25 and over.

Entrants who list Lawrence as their hometown are Randy Conroy, Michael Rack, Roy Edwards, Stewart Platz, Jim Clement, Chris Conroy, Charles Junge, Brent Mertz, Dick Stuntz, Mike Dupress, Curt Wright, Steve Swatsenbarg, Bryan Hedges and Steven Smith.

Bob Bezek and Mike Grosdider of Baldwin are also entered, as are Brian Macdonald of Ottawa and Robert Norris of Tonganoxie.

First place is worth $450, second place $300.
