Zelma Bowman

Mrs. Bowman died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at her home. She was cremated.

She was born Feb. 27, 1928, in Garnett, the daughter of Jesse G. and Mabel (Stutzman) Gibson. She had lived in Lawrence for 52 years.

Mrs. Bowman worked for Hercules Powder Co., Kansas Color Press and Kansas University.

She married Omer A. Bowman on Dec. 10, 1951, in Rogers, Ark. He died earlier.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Bowman and Roger L. Bowman, both of Lawrence, and Omer A. Bowman Jr., Overland Park; two daughters, Janice U. Casto, Meriden, and Cathy M. Currant, Lawrence; three sisters, Thelma Wooster, Delores Landis and Minnie Hooten, all of Vancouver, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society or Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
