Roderick E. Weltmer

? Services for Roderick E. Weltmer, 77, Mankato, will be at 2 p.m. today at Harmony United Methodist Church in Mankato. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley honor guard. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato.

Mr. Weltmer died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit.

He was born July 4, 1925, in Mankato, the son of L.E. and Myrtle (White) Weltmer. He graduated from Mankato High School and Kansas University.

Mr. Weltmer was a lawyer. He was active in Kansas Bar Assn., American Bar Assn., Kansas Land Title, Mankato Chamber of Commerce, American Legion of Mankato, KU Alumni Association, Mankato Development Assn. and Harmony United Methodist Church, where he had been a trustee.

He served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Alice J. Schoonover on Aug. 30, 1949, in Denver. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Carrie Mayhew, Lawrence, and Pat Korb, Salina; a son, John, Lawrence; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A granddaughter died earlier.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time today at the church.

The family suggests memorials to Harmony United Methodist Church, Jewell County Hospital, Mitchell County Hospital or American Cancer Society, sent in care of Melby Mortuary, 402 N. High St., Mankato 66956-1710.
