Jayhawks ranked 25th in latest softball poll

Kansas University’s softball team is ranked 25th in the USA Today/NFCA Poll. It’s the first ranking for the Jayhawks since they finished the 2001 season ranked No. 25.

Kansas has a 14-4 record and is off to its best start since 1992. The Jayhawks will travel to Stillwater, Okla., this weekend.

KU will play New Mexico State in a doubleheader Saturday, then tangle with No. 23-ranked Oklahoma State in single games Sunday and Monday.

KU soccer falls in spring match

The Kansas University soccer team lost to the K.C. Legends Boys Under-16 team, 4-1, Wednesday at Jayhawk Field. Freshman Caroline Smith scored the lone goal for the Jayhawks, 0-2-1 after three spring matches.

Kansas will play Iowa and Wisconsin-Milwaukee March 29 in Iowa City, Iowa.

Kansas bowler honored

Kansas University junior bowler Marc D’Errico of Rochester, N.Y., was chosen to receive the 2003 American Bowling Congress Chuck Hall Star of Tomorrow Award. D’Errico was named the team’s most valuable player in 2002 and was rookie of the year in 2001.
