Science fair entry deadline extended for weather

The Douglas County Science Fair entry deadline has been extended until 2 p.m. Wednesday, because of the weather.

“Usually we shut down at noon, but because of the weather we extended it a couple of hours,” said Duane Peterson, special events supervisor for the city’s Parks and Recreations Department.

Peterson said there were 164 entries Wednesday morning and he was getting calls from parents to see if they could still bring out entries.

Entries may be brought in until 2 p.m. to Building 21 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, he said.

The fair runs through Saturday.

Judging will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and will continue from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday.

Exhibits will be open to the public from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from noon to 10 p.m. on Friday.

An awards assembly will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in Building 21.
