Jayhawks win two more

? Kansas University’s softball team had a perfect Saturday, beating Texas-Arlington, 2-1, and Alabama, 6-4, at the Crimson Classic.

In the first game, junior pitcher Kara Pierce allowed just two hits in seven innings while striking out six.

Freshman Jessica Moppin drove in the two Jayhawk runs, and freshman Melaney Torres added two hits.

No. 13 Alabama beat the Jayhawks 2-1 Friday, but KU got revenge in its second game Saturday, rallying for four runs in the sixth inning.

Pierce (9-3) got the win in relief of senior Kirsten Milhoan, who allowed four runs on six hits and three walks in four innings. Pierce relieved in the fifth and didn’t allow another run.

Junior Mel Wallach had two home runs, and freshman Nettie Fierros also homered for the Jayhawks (13-4). Wallach finished with three RBIs.
