Barbara E. Peterson

? Memorial services for Barbara E. Peterson, 84, Overland Park, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Forum of Overland Park, with a reception afterward. Entombment will be at noon in the Chapel of Hope at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.

Mrs. Peterson died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at the Forum of Overland Park.

She was born in McLouth on Dec. 1, 1918, the daughter of Joseph Edmonds and Mabel Swain.

Mrs. Peterson graduated from Kansas University, where she was homecoming queen in 1940. She also was a singer with the Clyde Smith Orchestra. She played piano for the youth choir at Asbury United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Peterson had been married to Pete Peterson for 35 years when he died in 1977. She later married Vernon Houser, of Overland Park. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Bruce Peterson, Weston, Mo., and Chris Peterson, Denver; a daughter, Lindsay Peterson, Brandenton, Fla.; a brother, Norman Edmonds, Lawrence; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
