Lawrence commuter reports
The following events and construction projects may affect commuter traffic in the region this week:
- U.S. Highway 75 at 46th Street, traffic detoured through roundabout for construction.
- U.S. Highway 24 at U.S. 75 interchange, inside lanes closed for bridge repainting.
- U.S. 24 at N.W. 25th Street, northbound interchange bridge closed for bridge rehabilitation.
- Interstate 70 from Shawnee/Wabaunsee county line to Carlson Road interchange, traffic reduced to one lane each direction and speed limit reduced to 60 mph for road reconstruction.
- U.S. 24 from Kansas Avenue to two miles east of the Shawnee/Jefferson county line, tone lane each direction, with a 12-foot width restriction, for road overlay.
- U.S. 24 at the Stonehouse Creek bridge, traffic reduced to one direction at a time for bridge rehabilitation.
- U.S. 24 from the U.S. Highway 59 junction to the Douglas/Leavenworth county line, traffic controlled for milling and overlay.
- Kansas Highway 10 from Evening Star Road to Cedar Creek Parkway, westbound traffic reduced to one lane for bridge repair.
- Kansas Highway 32 and Nettleton Avenue, intersection closed for construction. Detours posted.
- Kansas Highway 7, lane and ramp closures for road milling and overlay.
- Kansas Highway 32 from K-7 to 59th Street, lane restrictions and closures for milling and overlay.
- I-70 at Interstate 635, traffic placed on existing westbound lanes for road reconstruction. I-635 between Metropolitan Avenue and Parallel Parkway, traffic placed on existing southbound lanes for road reconstruction. Several associated ramps closed.
- Interstate 35 at Southwest Boulevard, northbound exit ramp and southbound entrance ramp closed for bridge replacement.
- U.S. Highway 56 from I-35 to Metcalf Avenue, traffic reduced to one lane each direction for milling and overlay.
- Kansas City Royals vs. San Francisco Giants, 1:05 p.m. today; vs. Minnesota Twins, 7:05 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and 1:05 p.m. Thursday; Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, Mo.
- U.S. Highway 69 from Blue Valley Parkway to Johnson/Miami county line, traffic reduced to one lane with intermittent ramp closures for milling and overlay.
The following city construction projects may affect traffic this week:
- Wakarusa Drive, north of Sixth Street, closed for road improvements.
- North Michigan Street, no through traffic north of the Woodcreek Town Homes entrance to Riverridge Road for road improvements.
- Seventh Street from New Hampshire to New York streets, westbound traffic restricted for line installation.
- 15th Street from Crestline Drive to Iowa Street, traffic reduced to one lane each direction for milling, overlay and curb repair.
- University Drive from Iowa Street to Engle Road, traffic reduced to one lane each direction for milling, overlay and curb repair.
- Jayhawk Boulevard from West Campus Road to 13th Street, one-way northbound for line installation.
- 31st Street west of Iowa Street, traffic reduced for work on islands.
- Vermont Street from 20th to 22nd streets, closed for sewer improvements.
- 21st Street from Massachusetts Street to Barker Avenue, Rhode Island Street from 20th to 22nd streets, and Barker Avenue at 20th and 21st streets, closed for storm sewer improvements.
- Nebraska Street, on-street parking restricted for line installation.
- Harper Street from Powers to 19th streets, traffic interrupted for milling, overlay and curb repair.
- Clare Road, Clare Court and Davis Road, traffic interrupted for milling, overlay and curb repair.
