Hill hoping for three-peat in senior event

Jim Hill will be looking for a three-peat in the Lawrence Amateur Golf Assn. Men’s Senior this weekend.

Hill won the first two LAGA Men’s Senior tournaments. Last year, Hill edged Tom Taylor by one stroke and Jack Schreiner by two shots.

Two years ago, in the inaugural tournament, the 61-year-old Hill won by seven strokes.

A 24-man field will tee off for 18 holes of medal play at 9:04 a.m. today at Eagle Bend. The tourney’s final 18 holes will be played starting at 9:45 a.m. Sunday at Alvamar.

Most of the field will play this morning, but because of prior commitments four players — including Hill and Taylor — won’t tee off until 2:24 p.m.
