Cleo C. and Marcella E. Williams

Combined services for Cleo C. Williams, 92, and Marcella E. Williams, 93, both of Lakeland, Fla., will be at 10 a.m. July 25 at Plymouth Congregational Church, Lawrence.

The Williamses moved from Lawrence to Lakeland in 2001.

Mr. Williams died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Rohr Home in Bartow, Fla.

He was born Sept. 24, 1910, in Kalamazoo County, Mich., the son of Walter and Mary E. (Budrow) Williams. He graduated from Kansas University in 1934.

Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a safety consultant with Wausau Insurance Co. until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, and was the co-founder of Lawrence Gem and Mineral Society. He had been president of Rocky Mountain Gem and Mineral Federation.

Mrs. Williams died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at Heritage at Highlands Lake, Fla.

She was born Nov. 28, 1908, in Lawrence, the daughter of Charles and Harriette (Fellows) Sterling. She graduated from KU in 1931 and later from Barnes Hospital School of Dietitians in St. Louis.

Mrs. Williams worked as a dietitian for the Kansas University Medical Center. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, Plymouth Women, Round Table Study Club, Daughters of the American Revolution and Descendants of the Mayflower Society. She also was a Boy Scout den mother, and was co-founder of Lawrence Gem and Mineral Society.

The Williamses were married Sept. 5, 1937, in Lawrence.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Williams, Durango, Colo., and Richard Williams, Bartow, Fla.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

An infant son, Brian, died earlier.
