The Douglas County chapter of the American Red Cross needs volunteers to hang fliers promoting the organization's new class, Pet First Aid. Participants will learn basic CPR and first-aid skills for dogs and cats.
The class lasts from 9 a.m. to noon and sessions begin Friday. Volunteers can stop by the office to pick up fliers. Volunteers with different interests to place fliers in diverse spots are sought.
Last week's results
The Shawnee Mission district of the Muscular Dystrophy Assn. received calls from three groups willing to volunteer at the association's Jerry Lewis Telethon. Gina Adams said the organization needed 40 people to answer phones at all times and about 50 people working behind the scenes, so there were still more volunteer opportunities. To work at the show, which broadcasts on KCTV-5 at 10:30 p.m. Aug. 31, and at 6 a.m. Sept. 1, call Adams at (913) 859-0632, or e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
