Board to consider increasing student meal prices

Bottom line

The board will be asked to increase student meal prices for 2003-2004. Elementary and secondary students will see a 5-cent price increase each for lunch ($1.65, $1.90) and breakfast ($1, $1.15). Reduced and adult prices for lunch and breakfast will not change.

Background

The school district’s food service is self-supporting and is continuously hit with price increases of its own. State and federal reimbursements have not kept up with the costs of production and are inadequate to maintain nutrition standards established by law.
