Lynx cut ex-Jayhawk Pride

Lynn Pride, a former Kansas University standout, has been released by the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA.

Pride, a 6-foot-2 guard, was cut Monday when the Lynx added 6-3 forward Jordan Adams to the roster.

“One thing (Pride) brought was her athleticism,” Lynx coach Suzie McConnell Serio said, “but with our lineup, we have that athleticism already. Jordan brings us the presence of a bigger post player, a more versatile player.”

Pride had played in 13 of Minnesota’s first 15 games, all as a reserve. She was averaging 1.3 points and 1.3 rebounds.

A three-time first-team All-Big 12 Conference selection who ranks fifth on KU’s all-time scoring list, Pride was the seventh player selected in the 2000 WNBA draft by Portland. A year later, she was traded to Minnesota.

In four WNBA seasons, Pride played in 108 games, starting 30, and averaged 3.9 points and 3.0 rebounds.

With Pride’s release, guard Tamecka Dixon of the Los Angeles Sparks is the only former Jayhawk currently on a WNBA roster.
