A boat decoration contest will be at 7 p.m., and the decorated boats will parade around the lake at 8 p.m.

Fees increase for vital records

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has announced an increase in fees to access copies of vital records.

To verify, amend or receive copies or abstracts of birth, fetal death, marriage or divorce certificates, the fee is $12 for the first copy and $7 for each additional copy of the same record requested at the same time. For death certificates the fee is $13 for the first copy and $8 for additional copies.

Searching birth, fetal death, marriage or divorce records is $12 for each five-year period searched, or $13 for death certificates, when no record is found or copies are made.

Establishing a new birth certificate after an adoption is $12 and the application for a delayed birth certificate is $10. Fees for noncertified copies or abstracts for research or statistical uses will be determined by the state registrar.

Fees went into effect Tuesday to help the Center for Health and Environmental Statistics pay for itself, instead of receiving state funding.
