Milroy Services

Services for Dean J. Milroy, 80, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Plymouth Congregational Church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Milroy died Monday, June 30, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Clay County, the son of Raymond and Ruth (McMahon) Milroy. He graduated from Clay County Community High School and attended Kansas University.

Mr. Milroy served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot in the 121st Liaison Squadron, stationed in Africa and Italy. Later, he worked 30 years for KU as associate director for the student housing department. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, Lawrence Noon Kiwanis Club, American Legion, Kansas University Alumni Association and Endacott Society.

He married Jean E. Taylor on Oct. 16, 1942, in Wichita. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Michael Dean, Santa Fe, N.M.; a brother, Jerry, Lawrence; a half-brother, Henry Copeland, Wichita; and two grandsons.

A son, Alan Douglas, died earlier.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, where family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to Dean J. Milroy Scholarship Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
