Leavenworth ? Lawrence High’s wrestling team was spread too thin, and it hurt on Thursday as Leavenworth took advantage of two open weight classes to beat the Lions 36-27.

As LHS coach Mark Dulgarian said, his team lost, but only technically.

“They won by score, but 12 of the points they had were given to them,” he said.

Senior Aaron Madill wasn’t giving anything away, improving to 28-0 with a pin of Leavenworth’s Mark Dailers. Chris Cates, Pharouk Hussein, Brandon Price, Nolan Kellerman, and Kenny Poeverlein each won matches for the Lions (9-9).

Lawrence’s next action comes Saturday at the Atchison Tournament.
