Kiefer services

Graveside services for Harold Kiefer, 87, Overbrook, will be at 1 p.m. today in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Kiefer died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Midland Hospice after a long illness.

He was born March 25, 1915, in Falls City, Neb., the son of Joseph Howard Kiefer and Rena Richardson. He grew up in Horton and moved to Lawrence with his stepmother in the 1950s. He later moved to Scranton.

Mr. Kiefer worked in CCC Camp during the Depression and was later a construction worker for several years. He was a custodian from 1966 to 1985 in the Science Hall of Washburn University, where he was honored for his long years of service.

He married Nina Mae Bryan Bowser in July 1962. She died earlier.

Survivors include a daughter, Alice M. Macy, Peoria, Ariz.; a stepson, Berton N. Bowser, Topeka; and three grandchildren.

A stepson, Rex Bowser, died earlier.
