Calvary Temple Assembly of God

Wednesday night Bible study is the Book of Revelation at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 606 W. 29th St. Terrace.

The study is on the “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse” and meets from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. There are classes for all ages. The community is welcome to attend.

Clinton Parkway Assembly of God

Honor Bound Men’s Group will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday for the monthly men’s breakfast at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God, 3200 Clinton Parkway.

WISH worship services for the mentally and physically handicapped will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday in the church’s activity center.

Greg and Patty Benner of Battle Cry Ministries will be in services at 6:30 p.m. Sunday; and at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

They recently completed a “Walk Across America.” They will be sharing their experiences during and after the completion of their ministry walk.

Luke and Karli Weese have recently accepted the positions of youth/associate pastors at the church. The couple most recently lived in the Kansas City area.

First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church, 1330 Kasold Drive, will commemorate the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday with its Sunday worship services.

The Rev. Marcus McFaul, senior pastor, will continue a series of sermons from the Beatitudes of Jesus with “The Blessed Life: King the Peacemaker” in the 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services.

In the 8:30 a.m. worship service, the youth choir will sing “I Dream a World” by Langston Hughes and Andre Thomas.

In the 10:45 a.m. service, the Chancel Choir will sing Goemanne’s “Prayer for Peace,” incorporating a reading of the prayer of St. Francis, “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.”

The children’s choir will also sing in the 10:45 a.m. service.

“Baby Day” will be celebrated Sunday at Lawrence Wesleyan Church, 3705 Clinton Parkway.

The congregation will celebrate the gift of babies and recognize the church’s nursery workers.

There will be a parade of “floats” — decorated cribs, strollers, etc.

The Rev. Peter Luckey, senior pastor, and the Rev. Lew Hinshaw, associate pastor, will continue a series of sermons based on the Ten Commandments at Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vt.

Hinshaw will preach Sunday on the Third Commandment — keeping the Sabbath holy.

St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church

Food and music by the children’s and combined choirs will be offered as the community meets to celebrate the growth of the past year, and the vision for the future, at the annual general meeting after the 5:30 p.m. Sunday service at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 5700 W. Sixth St.

The Rev. Darrel Proffitt, rector, will deliver his sermon, “Navigating Your Priorities,” at the 7:45 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday services.

Due to the annual meeting Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt., there will be only one worship service, starting at 9 a.m. After the service, the 147th annual meeting will begin.

Luncheon will be served at the meeting’s conclusion. Lasagna will be provided. Members should plan to stay and bring a salad, bread or dessert to share.

The nursery will open at 8:30 a.m. for children 3 and under. Christian education classes for Godly Play and Godly Play Plus start at 9 a.m.

Trinity Lutheran Church

The Rev. Chris Sanderson will be the guest preacher and preside at the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday services at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 N.H.

Sanderson will address the adult forum at 9:30 a.m. on his efforts with the ELCA Stand for Africa Campaign.

In April, he will be hiking the Sierra Crest Trail with a goal of raising $10,000 for ELCA World Hunger-Stand for Africa.

His presentation is part of a series of forums at Trinity Lutheran on local and global missions with an emphasis on Africa, which coincides with the church-wide ELCA three-year Stand for Africa initiative.

Unity Church of Lawrence

The congregation of Unity Church of Lawrence, 905 Madeline Lane, will welcome the Rev. Caroline Jean Rhodes and the Rev. Genice O’Neil to lead a celebration of the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. at the 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services Sunday.

The services will feature gospel music.
