Area Girls Roundup: Bulldogs blast Indians, 71-19

? Four Baldwin High girls scored in double figures — the most balanced effort for the Bulldogs (7-1) this season — and cruised to a 71-19 win Tuesday against Osage City.

Baldwin, led by junior Emily Brown’s 18 points, outscored Osage City 38-13 in the first half and 33-6 in the second.

Seniors Anna Skaggs and Kayla Pringle scored 15 and 14 points respectively, while junior Kari Garrison added 10.

“We pretty much dominated from the opening tip,” Baldwin coach Eric Toot said.

Gardner — Santa Fe Trail (8-0) rallied from a four-point halftime deficit without point guard Jennie Dietrich, who didn’t play because of the flu.

“We didn’t finish the half with much confidence,” SFT coach Brenda Dahl said. “We came out really strong in the third and had a great quarter.”

Senior center Melisa Ball scored 10 of her game-high 17 points in the third quarter.

Spring Hill — The Cardinals couldn’t match Spring Hill’s physical play inside. Eudora was quickly outscored 32-9 in the second and third quarters, thanks in part to Spring Hill’s advantage on the glass. The Broncos outrebounded Eudora 27-9 offensively, and Megan Sullivan and Jessica Hocker outscoring Eudora by themselves, 30-26.

Freshman Michelle Deluna led the Cardinals with 11 points.
