Gymnast Fisher Shines: Lindsey Fisher of Kansas School of Gymnastics won the beam and finished second in the vault in Level 9 at the St. Louis Classic. At Level Seven, KSG’s Allison Womack was third in floor exercise and sixth in the all-around.

  • LABA Seeks Coaches: Lawrence Amateur Baseball Association is looking for coaches for its Legion and Breakfast Optimists teams next summer. If interested, call Ron Goodwin at 843-4662.
  • HPB Spring Sessions: Home Plate Baseball, operated by Wilson Kilmer, is accepting registrations for the spring season. For a brochure, call 393-9564 or e-mail homeplate@sunflower.com. The facility is located at 721 E. 9th St.
  • Mat Champions: Caleb D’Armond and Zach Warren of the Lawrence Junior Wrestling Club earned first places last Sunday at the Burlington Invitational. Second places were earned by Harley Wilkes, Devan Probst and Jacob Warren. Thirds were to Misty Hayes, Brianna Hayes and Summer Wilkes. Andy Jones took a fourth.
  • KVF U-14 Girls Win: Kaw Valley Force U-14 girls had two goals apiece from Jenny Brooks and Madison Bertrand to post a 4-3 indoor soccer win in Lenexa last weekend. However, KVF U-12 girls lost 2-1 as Alex Mollohan scored the only goal and the U-11 girls bowed 3-1 with Erin Ice posting the lone score.
  • Holcom Seeks Coaches: Holcom League baseball officials are looking for coaches for their ages 13-17 baseball leagues next summer. If interested, call Brent Urban at 830-0626 or pick up an application at the Holcom Rec Center. Deadline is March 1.
  • Youth bowling: Lawrence’s Young American Bowling Alliance will have a sign-up period on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Royal Crest Lanes for its spring session. League play begins Jan. 18 and is held every Saturday morning. It is open to youths ages 3 to 21, and bumper bowling is available for ages 7-and-under.
