Fern M. Allen

Mrs. Allen died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.

She was born April 19, 1911, in Horton, the daughter of David W. and Anna C. (Lehn) O’Dell.

Mrs. Allen was a homemaker and member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

She married David A. Allen on July 9, 1932, in Horton. He died June 16, 1986.

Survivors include three sons, David E. Allen and Richard L. Allen, both of Topeka, and Jerry J. Allen, Stover, Mo.; five daughters, Vera J. Harrington, Emporia, Pat K. Wells and Vickie S. Nichols, both of Lawrence, Joyce M. Davis, Billings, Mont., and Mary Jo Huffstickler, Norfolk, Va.; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A daughter and grandson died earlier.

A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary, after which the family will receive friends.

The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice, sent in care of the mortuary.
