KU faculty forum to discuss U.S.-European relations

A faculty forum to discuss U.S. relations with European nations over such issues as terrorism, NATO and disarming Iraq will be held Tuesday at Kansas University.

The forum, titled “Are U.S.-European Relations in Crisis?” will be held from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Pine Room on the sixth floor of the Kansas Union.

The following issues will be discussed:

  • The war on terrorism
  • The NATO alliance
  • Disarming Iraq
  • Are the American media engaged in an “anti-European” campaign to discredit

U.S. allies?

  • What do Americans know about their Western partners?

Panelists include Jonathan C.D. Clark, history; Michael Mosser, international programs and European studies; Juliet Kaarbo, political science; Carl Strikwerda, history; and, as moderator, Diane Fourny, French and European studies.

The forum is co-sponsored by the KU Center for European Studies and the KU Office of International Programs.
