Cougars clobber LHS girls

? The Lawrence High girls basketball team came out flat Saturday, falling 61-41 to Shawnee Mission Northwest.

Megan Klingler led the Lions with 16 points as the Cougars keyed on usual LHS stalwarts Cherrale Ricks and Josie Polk, holding the duo to just 11 total points.

LHS coach Kristen Mallory said the Lions simply didn’t get it done.

“They’re a good team; they obviously stepped up and brought their ‘A’ game and we didn’t,” she said. “They shot the ball really well, it was unbelievable. Defensively, we didn’t get it done.

“They did what they had to do and we didn’t adjust well.”

The Lions (12-4) can rebound at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shawnee Mission West.
