Nuggets rookie stopped by police, misses practice

Denver — Nuggets rookie Nikoloz Tskitishvili missed a team flight and a practice Monday after he was stopped by police on the way to the airport because of traffic violations.

The 19-year-old forward from the former Soviet republic of Georgia missed a flight to Los Angeles and wasn’t at practice that evening. He arrived in California on another flight later that night and participated in Tuesday’s shootaround at Staples Center.

Tskitishvili said he was pulled over Monday en route to Denver International Airport because he had expired license plates on his truck.

Grizzlies activate guard

Memphis, Tenn. — Guard Michael Dickerson was activated Wednesday by the Memphis Grizzlies for the team’s home game against the New Jersey Nets. Also Wednesday, the team placed guard Brevin Knight on the injured list because of a sprained wrist.

Wolves put Strickland IR

Minneapolis — The Minnesota Timberwolves placed point guard Rod Strickland on the injured list because of a strained groin Wednesday and signed Mike Wilks to a 10-day contract to replace him.
