Margaret Fowler Ballagh

? Services for Margaret Fowler Ballagh, 88, Tonganoxie, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa.

Mrs. Ballagh died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Tonganoxie Nursing Center.

She was born March 31, 1914, in McLouth, the daughter of Charles and Helen (Means) Fowler. She graduated from McLouth High School in 1931 and attended business college for two years. She lived in Oskaloosa for many years, moved to Lawrence in 1976 and to Tonganoxie in 2000.

Mrs. Ballagh owned and operated Ballagh Insurance Agencies in Oskaloosa and McLouth from 1963 until she retired in 1979. She also co-owned and operated Oskaloosa Feed and Seed Store with her husband. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a member and past worthy matron of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 62, both in Oskaloosa.

She married Julius John Ballagh on March 9, 1941, in Yuma, Ariz. He died Aug. 13, 1971.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane L. Ballagh de Tovar, Lawrence; a foster daughter, Roselia Clark, Shawnee; a sister, Cecil Luse, Hutchinson; and two grandsons.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
