Fred Earnest Gottstein

Vinland ? Services for Fred Earnest Gottstein, 95, Baldwin, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Vinland Church of Christ. Burial will be in Vinland Cemetery.

Mr. Gottstein died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 16, 1907, near Eudora, the son of John and Martha (Deay) Gottstein. He graduated from Vinland High School.

Mr. Gottstein was a farmer in the Vinland Valley, where he raised cattle and managed his farm until his death. He received the Banker’s Soil Conservation award in 1972.

He served as treasurer of Vinland Grange and helped organize the annual Vinland Fair. He was a member of Vinland Church of Christ.

He married Bernice E. Holmes on April 23, 1930, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Baldwin.
