Burglaries and thefts reported

  • Someone took an electric air compressor worth $1,700 from the 200 block of North Running Ridge Road, according to a police report. The equipment belonged to a Kansas City, Kan., construction company. The theft occurred sometime between 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Monday, the report said.

Injury accidents

  • Two Lawrence senior citizens suffered injuries Monday in a three-car wreck at the intersection of Iowa and 19th streets, according to a police report. A 1986 Chevrolet driven by 90-year-old Clifford O. Coffman was southbound on Iowa. Ursula E. Huelsbergen, 85, was driving a 1996 Toyota east on 19th Street. According to the report, about 9:50 a.m. Coffman disregarded a traffic signal, entered the intersection and hit Huelsbergen’s car. Coffman’s car then struck a Honda that was stopped in traffic on northbound Iowa. Two passengers in the Honda weren’t injured. Coffman and Huelsbergen were admitted to Lawrence Memorial Hospital and were in fair condition there Tuesday night, a nursing supervisor said.
