Timberwolves’ Smith out at least three weeks

Minneapolis — Timberwolves forward Joe Smith will miss at least three weeks because of a sprained right ankle, yet another injury for the Timberwolves.

Guards Terrell Brandon and Felipe Lopez likely are out for the year with knee injuries. Coach Flip Saunders had 10 healthy players for Sunday’s game against Philadelphia.

With the All-Star game next weekend, the Timberwolves won’t make any roster moves until re-evaluating Smith and point guard Rod Strickland. Strickland is out two or three weeks with a strained groin.

Clippers activate Wilcox

Toronto — The Los Angeles Clippers placed forward Cherokee Parks on the injured list Sunday with back spasms and activated rookie forward Chris Wilcox. Parks averaged 2.0 points and 1.8 rebounds in eight games. Wilcox has averaged 2.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in 18 games.

Fizer out for season

Chicago — Chicago Bulls forward Marcus Fizer will miss the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Fizer, in his third season, was injured when he landed awkwardly while catching a pass and then making a layup in Friday night’s 107-94 loss in Portland. The Bulls put him on the injured list Saturday with a sprained right knee, but an MRI revealed a tear in the ligament that will require surgery.
