Emma Claire Davis

? Services for Emma Claire Davis, 90, Leavenworth, will be 11 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Church, Leavenworth. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at KU Med, Kansas City, Kan.

She was born Jan. 23, 1913 in Solomon, the daughter of Frank and Sally (Kennedy) Hund. She graduated from St. Mary Academy, Leavenworth, and received a bachelor’s degree in English from St. Mary College, Leavenworth.

She taught school at the Hund School, Kickapoo, and for the Fort Leavenworth school system.

She was a member of St. Mary Alumna, the Whittier Club and the Saturday Club. For many years, she was a hostess at the Leavenworth County Historical Museum. She was appointed to the Board of Education for the Archdiocese. She also was a member of Cushing Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and St. John Hospital Guild. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, a member of its Altar Society and of Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of St. Mary College Women Associates. She also was a member of Leavenworth Country Club.

On April 24, 1937, she married Thomas Homer Davis in Leavenworth. He died Oct. 26, 1992.

Survivors include two sons, Robert E. Davis, Leavenworth, and Thomas Homer Davis Jr., Overland Park; five daughters, Sally Davis, Arlington, Va., Rosemary Redford, Leavenworth, Ruth Haukeland, Port Washington, N.Y., Marilyn Musser, Fort Riley, and Ann Chapman, Lawrence; two sisters, Ialene Micke, Omaha, Neb., and Bernice Remmert, Memphis, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Barbara Marie Davis, died earlier.
