A. H. ‘Hank’ North

Memorial services for A. H. “Hank” North, 78, Lawrence, will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church. Private family inurnment services will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. North died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.

He was born Sept. 30, 1925, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Arnot Henry and Helen Elizabeth (Carr) North. He graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, Mo., then received a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1948.

Mr. North served with the U.S Navy during World War II as a radioman first class aboard the USS Brister from 1942 to 1946.

He established the Clinton Parkway Nursery in 1975. He sold the nursery and retired in 1993.

Mr. North was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Jayhawk Kiwanis Club, Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the American Legion and Alford-Clarke Post No. 852 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He married Beverly J. Hamilton on Nov. 28, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Nancy A. Farrell, Lawrence, and Susan L. Reed, Scottsdale, Ariz.; a son, Ted H., Olathe; a brother, Ray S., Issaquah, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends after the services at the church.

The family suggests memorials to the church or Heart of America Hospice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
