Injury accidents

  • A Baldwin man was injured Thursday afternoon in a two-car wreck at Eighth and Connecticut streets.

Thomas C. Cunningham, 53, was traveling east about 3 p.m. on Eighth Street when he drove through the intersection’s stop sign, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Catherine Born.

Cunningham’s Mitsubishi Gallant collided with a Dodge Intrepid driven by 24-year-old Matthew Skea. Neither he nor his passenger, Andrew Skea, 23, was injured. The Mitsubishi came to rest in a nearby lawn.

Lawrence Police cited Cunningham for driving too fast for conditions. He was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.

  • A 27-year-old Baldwin man was hospitalized after his car rolled several times and struck a caution sign. Tregory Lewis crashed his Honda Accord on County Road 1055 about a mile north of Baldwin. The car came to rest in a ditch. He was taken by Lifestar helicopter about 1:30 a.m. Thursday to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.
