Maurice Souders Bailey

Services for Maurice Souders Bailey, 89, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Loran-Fawcett Funeral Home in Neodesha. Burial will be in Neodesha Cemetery.

Mr. Bailey died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.

He was born Nov. 29, 1914, in Neodesha, the son of Asa Warren and Daisy Souders Bailey. He graduated from University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science Degree in geology.

Mr. Bailey served in the U.S. Navy from November 1942 until October 1945 in World War II. He worked for his father in the oil business and later was a partner in Bailey Brothers Oil Co. in Neodesha. He moved to Colorado to work in property management until his retirement in 1980.

He moved in 1980 to Sun Lakes, Ariz., and two years ago moved to Lawrence.

Mr. Bailey was a member of First United Methodist Church, Neodesha.

He married Marion Drew Graham on April 15, 1941. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Naida Bailey Stone, Spring, Texas; two sons, Jeffrey W., Denver, and S. Graham, Lawrence; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Linda Bailey Klingenberg, died in 1971.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence. Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until service time Friday at Loran-Fawcett Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Presbyterian Manor, sent in care of the mortuary.
