KVF U-15 Wins: Kaw Valley Force U-15 girls soccer squad edged the KC Strikers, 3-2, in Kansas Premier Soccer League play last weekend in Olathe. Abby Vestal led the Force with two goals and an assist. Clare Robinson also added a goal. Daphne Tsatsoulis was a defensive standout.

  • Berkley Lifts Blue: Rebekah Berkley scored three goals to spur Lawrence Strikers U-19 Blue to a 4-2 win over KC Odyssey in Heartland Soccer League play Sunday in Olathe. Megan Sinclair scored the other goal. Also in HSL play, Lawrence Strikers U-18 White bowed to KC Shooting Stars, 2-1, and edged Overland Park Stars, 2-1. Kendal Forio, Anna Ashcraft and Ashley Isbell notched the Strikers’ goals.

  • Ladyhawks Clinic: Ladyhawks Basketball Clinic for junior high girls will be Sept. 13-14 at East Lawrence Center. Call Keke Blackmon at 841-6848 or Anthony Lyles at 843-3622.

  • Roesler Low: Chad Roesler shot a 72 and won last Sunday’s Jayhawk Golf Club tournament at Alvamar by three strokes over Mike Naegele. Kirk Schneider was third with a 77. In net scoring, Bob Kocour and Stephen Morgan both shot 70s. David St. Clair was third with a 73.

  • Five-Tool School: Five-Tool Baseball School will have on-site registrations at 8:45 a.m. Sept. 6 at Free State High’s baseball field. Spots remain open for third through eighth graders. Call Mike Hill at 766-4916.

  • No Holcom Fall Ball: Holcom Amateur Baseball Assn. will not form a fall league as announced earlier. The next league games will be played in the summer of 2004. Call Mike Mattan at 766-0194.

  • Phenix Looking: Lawrence Phenix U-14 girls fast-pitch team is looking for two or three players for next season. Call John Hamilton at 542-2860.

  • Hurd Hole-in-One: Sam Hurd used a sand wedge to ace the 97-yard No. 8 hole last Thursday at the Orchards. Ben Hess witnessed the shot.

  • Cue Team Fifth at Nationals: Nothing Is Over, a team representing Lawrence’s Pool Room, tied for fifth place among 222 teams in the National APA Open 9-Ball Championships last week in Las Vegas. Team members were Mike Robinson, Monica Dibben, Jake Dibben, Dominic Scrivo, Prasad Jayraman, Dave Veatch, Ali Littlefield and Aaron Silber.
