Ruby A. Lawrence

? Services for Ruby A. Lawrence, 91, Williamstown community, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Perry Christian Church. Burial will be in Underwood Cemetery in Williamstown.

Mrs. Lawrence died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 22, 1912, in Rossville, the daughter of John D. and Emma Waller McConnell. She graduated from Rossville High School in 1930. She had lived in Williamstown, near Perry, since 1951.

Mrs. Lawrence was the head cook at Williamstown Grade School from 1952 to 1971 and at Perry-Lecompton High School from 1971 until her retirement in 1973. She was a member of Perry Christian Church and Valley Ridge Home Demonstration Unit in the Buck Creek Community of Williamstown. She was a former leader and co-founder of Billtown Go-Getters 4-H Club.

She married Roscoe R. Lawrence on March 4, 1933, in Rossville. He died Jan. 1, 1985.

Survivors include a son, James Lawrence, Perry; a daughter, Kathryn Watson, Topeka; a brother, James McConnell, St. Joseph, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Two great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild died earlier.

Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
