— Baylor University will send a high-level delegation to the funeral for slain basketball player Patrick Dennehy, an athletic department spokesman said Friday.

University president Robert Sloan, head basketball coach Dave Bliss and athletic director Tom Stanton plan to attend the funeral Thursday in San Jose, Calif.

"These guys feel it's important they go and represent the school," sports information director Scott Stricklin said.

He said he did not know whether some of Dennehy's teammates -- who would have to make their own arrangements to be there -- would make the trip.

A teammate, Carlton Dotson, was arrested July 21 and charged with Dennehy's murder.
