Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Pell

? Services for Elizabeth “Betty” Perkins Pell, 83, DeSoto, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church of DeSoto. Burial will be in DeSoto Cemetery.

Mrs. Pell died Monday, April 14, 2003, in Lawrence.

She was born Dec. 20, 1919, in Hazleton, Pa., the daughter of John and Henrietta Perkins.

Mrs. Pell taught in the De-Soto school district for 25 years. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Western Star and National Education Assn. She was a past president of DeSoto NEA and was active in forming the Girl Scouts in DeSoto.

She married Luke A. Pell 62 years ago. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include four daughters, Anne Pell Moscrip, Durham, N.C., Harriet Pell, Denver, Peggy Pell, Mission, and Catherine Lapp, Land O Lakes, Wis.; a son, John Pell, Fredericksburg, Va.; two sisters, Margaret Hamilton, Mississippi, and Harriet Humphrey, New York; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A son, Richard Adron Pell, died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
