Eudora motorcyclist critical after accident

A Eudora woman was listed in critical condition Saturday at KU Med after suffering injuries in a motorcycle accident earlier in the evening.

Mary Schultz, 37, was taken by helicopter to the hospital in Kansas City, Kan., after she lost control of her bike and was thrown onto the road. She was not wearing a helmet.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Lt. Kathy Tate said about 7:30 p.m. Schultz was traveling northbound on Douglas County Road 1061 with two friends when the accident occurred.

About a mile north of U.S. Highway 56, the lead motorcyclist pulled to the side of the road for reasons not yet known. The second motorcyclist started to slow, and when Schultz attempted to go around him, she made contact and lost control.

The two men involved in the accident were not injured, and their names were not available Saturday night.
