Bear-y special volunteers needed for fund-raiser

Agency: Trinity Respite Care
Address: 2201 W. 25th St.
Contact Person: Teresa Martell, 842-3159

Trinity Respite Care needs volunteers to help with its We Care Bear Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 19 at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H. The fair will raffle teddy bears that have been bought and decorated by local businesses and people. Money earned will help Respite Care provide in-home medical care to elderly citizens. Volunteers will sell tickets, serve cookies and punch, and stencil chalk paw prints around the arts center.

Volunteers also will be needed before the event to sell raffle tickets. Respite Care will have a table set up at Hy-Vee to sell tickets Saturday and Sunday, but volunteers also may sell tickets elsewhere. Volunteers also can decorate bears for the show or solicit companies to do so.

Teams of eight to 15 will volunteer to run the track in shifts all night long. One runner from each team will be on the track at all times, and each member is asked to raise $100 for the event.
