Mary M. McCray

She was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Cheyenne, Wyo., the daughter of Benjamin F. and Myrtle (Wilcox) Baker. She moved to Lawrence in 1996 from Yreka, Calif.

Mrs. McCray was a homemaker. She attended Grace Community Church, was a member of Rebekka Lodge and was a volunteer for the Hospice program, all in Yreka. She had also volunteered for Hospice in Seattle.

She married Gerald McCray in Yreka in 1990. He died in 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Betts, Redmond, Wash., and Cheri Esmond, Lawrence; a sister, Reita Stillwell, North Platte, Neb.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Marilyn Wensky, died in 1967.

The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice, sent in care of Lawrence Funeral Chapel.
