Lawrence High’s football team is third in this week’s AP rankings, behind defending state champ Olathe North and runner-up Manhattan.

The Lions, 1-0, beat Leavenworth, 34-20, in their season opener last Friday. LHS, 5-4 last season, plays Shawnee Mission North on Friday at Haskell Stadium.

Hutchinson and Derby round out the top five, while another Sunflower League team, Olathe South, is the only other team that was rated.

Eudora, 1-0, is in the 4A also rated section after beating Prairie View 39-12 in its season opener last Friday. The Cardinals play host to Anderson County on Friday.
