Moldy books force Bethany to close library

? Moldy books at Bethany College’s library have left the building empty with classes set to begin this week.

Concern over the spore situation at Wallerstedt Library caused the evacuation of librarians and administrative offices and shut down operations within the building.

The reopening of the building depends on test results, said Bud Rothgeb, director of college relations. Meanwhile, students can use the library’s Internet materials, which include its card catalog and 3,000 online publications.

Professors who decide they need books anyway are given the key to the building and a warning about the mold, which poses a health risk and has continued to spread despite prevention efforts.
